At SpotOnCreative we love Amazon Web Services (AWS). This Blog should give you a better idea of what AWS is and why we’re such a big fan. AWS provides infrastructure as a service (IaaS). This is split up into many smaller services and these can be used to create and deploy any type of application in the cloud. Each service is listed under a domain. Here are some of the domains:
- Security, identity, and compliance
- Developer tools
Pay as you go approach
AWS offers you a pay-as-you-go approach for pricing. With AWS you pay only for the individual services you need, for as long as you use them, and there no additional costs or termination fees.
AWS Marketplace offers free and paid software products that run on the AWS Free Tier. These include Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Amazon Elastic File System, and many more. This gives developers a chance to try out AWS’s API in their software, which not only enhances their software but also ties them to AWS, which benefits Amazon in the long run.
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) is a web service that provides secure, resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale cloud computing easier for developers. This comes with virtual computing environments, EC2 compute hours, elastic web-scale computing, flexible cloud hosting services. and much more.
Amazon Web Services has a highly secure infrastructure. It offers you the ability to configure built-in firewall rules from public to private or in between to control access to instances. AWS uses Identity and Access Management (IAM) which is a security and business discipline which enables the right individuals to access the right resources at the right times and for the right reasons.
Analytics are essential to analyzing how successful your communications are for your company and how much traffic you are receiving. Amazon Quick Sight is a fast, easy to use, cloud-powered business analytics service from AWS. This allows your business to get to gain insights from your data to perform an analysis. This can be accessed from any desktop web browser or mobile device.
At AWS, you can select the operating system, programming language, a platform for the web application, database and many other services that you require. All the services work and communicate together with your application to automatically judge demand and handle it accordingly.
Application Programming Interfaces (API’s) are a set of functions that allow the creation of applications which access the features or data of an operating system, application, or other services. The Amazon API Gateway allows you to create, publish, maintain, monitor, and secure API’s at any scale. These are cost effective and are easy to monitor.
Amazon Web Services has a presence in 18 regions around the globe, 53 availability zones, and 1 local region, with plans for 12 more availability zones and four more regions.
I hope you have liked our post. We plan to continue using AWS for our apps for the foreseeable future. We build the infrastructure and implement it into our apps with you having to do anything and we do not mark up AWS services. We help you set your own account up and then do the work for you, so you don’t have to pay extra.
